A growing number of Japan's most in-demand attractions, theme parks, scenic trains, character cafes, and cultural sites now sell tickets on a fixed release schedule, sometimes months ahead, sometimes exactly one day ahead, and often at a specific minute in Japan Standard Time (JST). Missing that window is the single most common reason a trip's plans fall apart. General-purpose AI tools are frequently wrong about these dates because release schedules change and are not well represented in older training data. This guide lists official release timing for 32 attractions, organized by category, sourced directly from each operator's own site, so you can work out your own booking calendar before you fly.

Why this list exists
As visitor numbers to Japan have grown, many popular attractions have moved to fully dated, timed-entry ticketing, and some now sell out within minutes of release. The release date is not always the same as "how far in advance you can plan" — several of these open bookings only 14, 30, or 31 days before the visit, which is easy to miss if you are used to booking things months ahead.
This list only points you to each attraction's own official ticketing page. It does not sell tickets, hold a booking on your behalf, or use resale or broker sites. You complete every booking yourself, directly with the operator, using your own payment details.
How to use this list
Start from your actual travel dates and work backward. For anything marked "Required" or "Effectively required," note the exact release date and JST time, set a reminder for it, and have your payment method and (where noted) passport or ID ready before that moment. For monthly-release items (for example Ghibli Museum or Nintendo Museum), the release date is the same every month, so you can calculate it as soon as you know your travel month.
JST is 9 hours ahead of UTC and has no daylight saving change, so it stays a fixed 9-hour offset from UTC year-round — convert to your local time once and keep a note of it.

Important pitfall for overseas visitors: the ticketing app requires SMS verification to a Japanese phone number, which makes self-booking very difficult without one. Reopened March 31, 2026. No reservation is needed for the permanent exhibition.
